Why would I sleep at the G?

Every year, thousands of young people across Victoria face something no one should ever have to experience — not knowing where they’ll sleep that night. It’s confronting, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s a reality that often sits just out of sight for most of us. That’s why this year, I’m taking part in Sleep at the ’G: to shine a light on youth homelessness and to stand in solidarity with the young people who don’t get to choose comfort or safety at the end of the day.

We’re all feeling the pinch in one way or another. Times are tough, and everyone is juggling their own challenges. But even in moments like these, it’s important to remember that there are young people doing it even tougher — kids who are navigating life without stability, without security, and without the support many of us take for granted.

For me, Sleep at the ’G isn’t just about spending one night on a cold floor. It’s about perspective. It’s about empathy. And it’s about using whatever platform I have to help raise awareness and support for those who need it most. One night won’t replicate the reality of homelessness, but it does remind us why this issue can’t be ignored.

What gives me hope is the strength of community. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family, friends, and colleagues who’ve backed me in this. Every donation, every message, every share — it all adds up. It sends a message to young people sleeping rough that they’re not invisible, and they’re not alone.

My goal is simple: to help make a difference, even if it’s just a small one. Because small actions, when multiplied by many people, can create real change. And if this night helps one young person find safety, support, or a path forward, then it’s worth every minute.

Thank you to everyone who’s already shown their support. It means more than you know. And if you’re still thinking about getting involved — whether by donating, sharing the message, or simply learning more — I’d love to have you alongside me.

Together, we can help give young people the chance they deserve: a chance to feel safe, supported, and hopeful about their future.

We Have The Power To End Youth Homelessness

Every night, over 122,000 Australians experience homelessness. That’s more than the maximum capacity of the great MCG. And alarmingly, a quarter of all these people are between the ages of 12 and 24.

In Victoria, more than 7,600 young people experience homelessness every night.

Young people need more than a safe place to live, they need stability and support to develop life skills, heal from trauma, and to transition to independence. Your support is needed now more than ever.

Homelessness is not a choice. Homelessness doesn't discriminate.

I'm seeking your support by asking you to donate so that I can reach my fundraising target. Every dollar counts!

Together, we have the power to end youth homelessness.
