How to sleep at the 'g

I am going to Sleep At The ’G!

Sleep At The ’G raises money to help young people experiencing homelessness.

ticket

I must bring my ticket.
My ticket can be found on my fundraising dashboard.

sleeping mats on the floor

I can bring a sleeping mat or yoga mat.

pillow

I should bring a pillow for extra comfort.

sleeping bag

I should bring a sleeping bag or blankets.

warm clothes

I should wear warm clothes.

water bottle

I can bring an empty water bottle.
I can fill my water bottle at the MCG.

MCG gate 2

I will arrive at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. I will enter through Gate 2.

There may be many people arriving at the same time.

If I am unsure where to go, I can ask a staff member or volunteer.

security

I will go through a security check when I arrive.

A security person will look inside my bag.

This helps make sure everyone stays safe.

Once I am inside, it will be busy with lots of people.

There may be music, lights and announcements.

Sometimes the space may feel busy or loud.

When I arrive at Sleep At The ’G, I will go to the check-in area.

Staff and volunteers from MCM will help me check in.

They may ask for my name or registration.

This helps them know that I have arrived.

sleeping area sign

When I check in, I will receive a coloured wristband.

The colour of my wristband will match the colour of the area where I will be sleeping.

There will be signs to help guide me to the correct sleeping area.

There will be lots of activities at Sleep At The ’G.

I can choose which activities I would like to join.

I am not required to do any of the activities.

If I want to sit on my sleeping bag and talk to friends, that is ok.

speakers

During the event there will be speakers.

Some people may share stories about youth homelessness.

People may listen quietly during these moments.

In the Fireside Chat, there may be topics that could be distressing.

I can leave if I am not comfortable there.

There will be signs around the venue.

The signs will help people find important areas.

I can follow the signs to find where I need to go.

quiet room

There will be a quiet room available.

If I am unsure where to find it, I can ask a staff member or volunteer for help.

There are accessible toilets at the MCG that I can use at any time.

sleeping

Later in the evening, people will get ready to sleep at the MCG.

People may bring sleeping bags, blankets, or warm clothes.

Sleeping at the MCG helps people understand youth homelessness.

There may be louder noises than I am used to sleeping with all night.

I can bring headphones or ear plugs with me to help me sleep.

breakfast

In the morning, it will be time to pack up my sleeping area.

I will put all of my belongings back into my bag.

Before I leave, breakfast will be provided.

I can have breakfast before exiting the event.
