Helping homeless people like my cousin Char
I'm sleeping at the G, at 7+ months pregnant, to raise funds for youth homelessness.
This issue is very close to my heart. My cousin Char has lived on and off the streets for 15 years since leaving an abusive partner. Sadly she also now experiences drug addiction. Below are before and after photos of her living on the streets. Yes, they are the same person.
You might think that wouldn't happen to a regular family or person. But it can and it does.
Before living on the streets, Char was a smart, clever, popular woman with a job and loving family. We've not been able to help her. Her now 7yo daughter, born on the streets, has been raised by Char's sister.
Unfortunately Char's story, the impact of family violence, and the power of addiction, is not unique and can affect anyone.
Please dig deep, if you can, to help those like Char who are homeless through no fault of their own.
