Everyone deserves safe housing

Access to safe and secure housing is a human right. ANYONE can find themselves experiencing homelessness, whether through unexpected or unfair circumstances, or broader economic, societal and health factors.

Did you know 25% of Victorians without a home are aged between 12 and 24 years? Every night, over 122,000 people in Australia experience homelessness – that’s more than the max capacity of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

That’s why I’m joining hundreds of others to sleep at the iconic MCG in May. This fundraiser will support Melbourne City Mission in providing assistance to young people experiencing homelessness. A donation of $64 can help someone get through a full day with food, support and a plan for housing.

I hope this initiative can raise important funds and remind us to extend understanding and compassion to anyone affected by housing insecurity.
