End youth homelessness
Join us for MCM Sleep At The ’G, where each year, compassionate Victorians come together in support of thousands of young Victorians who are without a safe place to call home.
On any given night, over 7,600 young Victorians aged 12-24 are without a safe place to call home. Many are couch surfing, sleeping in cars, or staying in crowded and unsafe housing.
Your fundraising and one-night sleepover at the iconic MCG will help raise essential funds to provide stable housing and wraparound support, enabling youth to build independence, reconnect with education and employment, and break the cycle of homelessness for good.
Youth homelessness snapshot
MCM's Victorian Youth Homelessness Snapshot is a census of the 179 children and young people aged 15-24 who were homeless on 8 April 2025 and connected to MCM, Victoria’s largest youth homelessness provider, and its statewide youth homelessness service, Frontyard Youth Services.
This is just a small glimpse into what is happening across Victoria every single night.
4 in 5 young people grew up experiencing family violence
Of those young people, 63% were known to child protection.
Youth homelessness is not a choice. Youth homelessness is a result of disadvantage leading to a crisis – like family violence, abuse and mental health.
54% had attended an emergency department for mental health concerns
A staggering 65% of all young people recorded had reported self-harm, suicidal ideation or attemps to take their own life.
Additionally 1 in 4 reported experiencing chronic pain.
2 in 3 young people were not engaged in study or work
Social disconnection is a growing concern.
Long term marginalisation and lost opportunity accumulate over a lifetime with loss of wages, superannuation and reduced quality of life.
Youth and adult homelessness are linked
Half of all adults experiencing long-term homelessness first became homeless in their teens.
By supporting young people early, we can help them avoid staying homeless for life. Early intervention is critical.

It's our responsibility.
We have the power
Victoria's homeless youth do not choose this path. The stark reality is that many of the young people facing homelessness have lived through family violence and mental health challenges. Without access to secure, supported and affordable housing and support, homelessness can persist, for many of these young Victorians.
