WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?!
Melbourne City Mission has been my first employer in Australia.
Evidently, the organisation does some incredible work to change the lives of people in the State of Victoria to disrupt disadvantage. A significant part of the work is homelessness support.
I have been a Case Manager since November 2024 and seen how structural systems differ between England and Australia. It has been eye-opening having seen 16-24 year olds walking through the doors saying that they have no safe space to sleep that night. I have directly supported young women, single, pregnant or parents with young children who are at risk or experiencing homelessness. Given the rental crisis and lack of affordable housing, it has not been easy but sometimes young people need support, guidance, empathy and compassion.
How do you focus on your aspirations, dreams and goals when you don't know where you will sleep that night?
You may be wondering what the 'G is! It’s Melbourne Cricket Ground, the largest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere. We will be taking one night to Sleep in the Stadium. Remember… Remember, the seasons are in reverse here in Australia so we won't be having a jolly as the Summer starts, it will be MID-WINTER cold. (Melbourne does get cold!!)
In my social work practice, I always celebrate and value the small wins but I have also seen some huge, life-changing outcomes for young people which has been magical!
I am joining sleep at the 'G to raise awareness (including joining the Q&A panel) and vital funds for life-changing cause.
Please support by donating your dollarsss or pounds to an incredible cause to End Youth Homelessness.

Every night, over 122,000 Australians experience homelessness. That’s more than the maximum capacity of the great MCG. And alarmingly, a quarter of all these people are between the ages of 12 and 25.
In Victoria, more than 7,600 young people experience homelessness every night.
Young people need more than a safe place to live, they need stability and support to develop life skills, heal from trauma, and to transition to independence. Your support is needed now more than ever.
Homelessness is not a choice. Homelessness doesn't discriminate.
I'm seeking your support by asking you to donate so that I can reach my fundraising target. Every dollar counts!
Together, we have the power to end youth homelessness.
