Sleep At The ’G may look different this year, but youth homelessness remains the same

Unfortunately our much-loved Sleep At The 'G has been cancelled two years in a row due to the COVID-19 situation in Victoria. The good news is that we're still planning a bit of fun in support of youth homelessness.

What's the challenge? Sleep At Home!

Ditch the comfort of your bed to sleep in your car, your backyard, or on your couch in support of the 6,000 young people in Victoria with no place to call home. While our main Live Stream Gig took place on Thursday 28 October, there are still many people participating in this event througout November.

Grab your tent, sleeping bag, blankets, or swag, and get the whole household involved.

Help put youth homelessness to bed

Camp out in your backyard, on your couch, your balcony, car or floor and sleep out on a night that suits you to help put youth homelessness to bed. We know it’s not the MCG, and we know you won’t have the best night’s sleep, but you’ll be CHOOSING to sleep out, a luxury that many of the young people we support don’t have.

Remember, one night for you could change a whole lifetime for a young person.

Homelessness crisis: Urgent action is required

Homelessness is usually a result of other forms of disadvantage building to a crisis. Family violence, abuse and mental health are the major drivers into homelessness for young people. But once they become homeless, they face even more dangerous situations; sleeping rough, in unsafe housing or couch surfing. The longer homelessness lasts, the harder it is to for a young person to rebuild their lives. Homelessness becomes a cycle – surviving from one day to the next.

You'll also have the chance to hear more about youth homelessness and what MCM is doing to support so many young people without a home.

It will be a super fun night you won't want to miss so please tell your friends and family and tune in!
